Frequently Asked Questions
We know you will have questions from time to time, and we want to help! We’ve compiled some of the questions our parents and community most frequently ask. The answers are in one convenient location for you! You can find more information about our school policies and procedures in our student/parent handbook, located under the parents and students Quick Links on the Home page.
Our school is a learning community, and we expect our students to treat it as such. Students should dress in a manner that shows respect for themselves, others, and the school. We do not permit any clothing that distracts from teaching and learning. In general, we do not allow:
- Clothing that exposes the midriff or cleavage
- Shorts and skirts that do not pass the “fingertip-length” test
- Clothing that promotes drugs, gangs, alcohol, cigarettes, or other illegal substances
- Spikes, chains, and similar jewelry
- Piercings other than the ears
We reserve the right to determine whether a student’s dress is appropriate for school.
What grading system do teachers at Marietta High use?
Marietta High School uses the traditional A–F grading scale:
A = 90 to 100
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60-69
F = Below 60
Students earning an F in any class must retake the class prior to graduation. Back to Top
What if my child must be absent from school?
Regular attendance is vital to the success of your child. We ask that you schedule vacations and doctor’s appointments for times when school is not in session. If your child is sick or you have a true family emergency, please call the school before 9 a.m. on the day of the absence to excuse your child from school. Students are responsible for making up any missed work while they are away.
What will happen if my child becomes ill while at school?
If a student becomes ill, we will attempt to notify a parent or guardian promptly, and we will care for the student in our nurse’s station until a parent or guardian arrives. For this reason, please inform the school office staff and nurse’s office if you have any changes to your contact information. Students may not leave school grounds without either a parent or another approved adult (as listed on the student’s information form). If the situation is a medical emergency, we will follow standard emergency procedures.
